Claes Manning at MA Trading in Kungsbacka, Sweden has been in the lock business, designing and constructing locks for many years. He says that earlier the locks on the market were both expensive and difficult to assemble. Claes decided to change that.
Finding a supplier and an excellent logistic process
Claes and ESMA’s roads crossed almost a year ago, when Claes contacted ESMA to see if we could help him find a complete solution for production, assembly and logistics for the new locks.
Claes previously owned his own processing company where he, among other things, produced and assembled boat locks that he sold under his previous brand. He built the company up from the ground and later sold both lock brand and company.
When Claes had the idea about new locks a few years ago, he wanted to work differently from how he did things the last time. He contacted ESMA. Claes and ESMA’s Karl Haglund together found a concept for production, assembly and final packaging in Taiwan.
Good communication
Today the locks are manufactured, hardened, coated, assembled and packed in boxes with a foam interior ready for delivery to the end customer, before they arrive at ESMA’s warehouse in Spånga, from where MA Trading calls them off.
“It has all worked out very well,” says Claes Manning. “We have great communication, and it is fantastic to be able to get these products delivered all ready to sell to the end customer.”
Karl Haglund at ESMA also thinks that it has been a great collaboration.
“During the project, we developed the products, found a producer that could make qualitative components at a competitive price and we created a perfect logistic process,” says Karl.
Recently the very first series delivery was made.
Certified quality
The locks are certified by the RISE Research Institutes of Sweden (formerly Statens Provningsanstalt), approved for class 3 and thus classified as safe by the insurance companies. The entire process chain is approved by RISE, who annually conduct an audit of the process in Taiwan to ensure quality and see to it that the certification is maintained.
